Pal Auto Garage provides Dubai RTA authorized Speed Limiter Installation and Certification. Speed limiters are mandatory for all commercial vehicles in UAE as per RTA rules. This is due to the fact that overspeeding is proven to be the major cause of over 68% of serious road accidents in the UAE. The vehicle control system or speed limiter is designed to help vehicle owners and companies that run fleets of Minibuses and other transport vehicles to reduce accidents, injury, and death rates.

What is a Speed Limiter?

A speed limiter is an intelligent speed assistance (ISA) system that prevents a car from traveling over a set speed. This is not the same concept as cruise control as the car does not maintain this set speed. The driver can still use the accelerator, but the speed limiter prevents the car from going faster if the car reaches the limited speed.

How do Speed Limiters Work?

The sensors in your car detect how fast you are going, then this information is communicated to the engine’s computer. When the pre-determined speed is met, the computer restricts the flow of fuel and air to the engine. Therefore, as a driver, you will not be able to exceed the pre-determined top speed.

However, all speed limiters can be overridden. If there is a need to speed up quickly, pushing down hard on the accelerator will work. Further, it should be made clear that this system does not affect the car’s braking system.

How will speed limiters affect your car?

Within the coming years, Intelligent Speed Assistance systems will be mandatory for all new cars. When we install speed limiters in our car, the ISA will alert the driver if they are going over the speed limit and if the driver does not choose to slow down then the car will intervene automatically.

Dubai RTA Approved Speed Limiter: DAS:86

In Pal auto garage, we use Dubai RTA approved Autograde Das 86 speed limiter.  Autograde Speed Limiter is a microcontroller-based electronic device that reads the inputs from the speed sensor and switches a fuel control solenoid valve proportional to the vehicle speed results in the control of speed within the desirable levels. The speed limits can be programmed using a handheld programming device.
